Actually not.
My next guitar is not for a commission, but it is an experiment for me.
It is the 1st I am trying a cutaway on and so far...so good.
Since my brand name is Lazy Dog Guitars, I decided to do a Dog theme.
This guitar is to show prospective customers etc. and for me to play.
It is the fingerstlye OM that I asked for top suggestions from all of you.
Well the forum opinion was that the ADI top I had would be perfect with
the 5A unbelieveable Koa I have.
I used some of the left over pieces from the sides to do a top inlay.
Eventually the top footprint will overlapping on the fretboard.
What do you think????? too much???? It is just supposed to be a fun
guitar.

Sounds like fun, Andy, but how are you going to get that brown yuck off yer top?!

Great idea, though. How about the prints coming up from the bass side, only with contrasting wood?

If it's supposed to be a fun guitar, perhaps there is no "too much".

well at least it didn't eat your homework. I think it looks great, and by the way, that's a beautiful piece of top wood.

Actually I am using pawprints for fretmarkers.
I am currently experimenting with ruined fretboard.
I Su*k at cutting pearl and to cut all those paw prints would be a nightmare
for me. I am NO CRAIG LAVIN.
So I am messing with castin craft resin and brass and silver powder.
I just route out the prints, fill and sand. I am testing the amount of catalyst
to see how well it hardens.
Anyone out there use this stuff for inlay???

Andy i love it

I did one for a client a couple years ago called Dog and Butterfly. The paw prints seemed to chased a repeating butterfly up the fretboard. I repeated the butterfly at the each of the position marker with a swill or curved line of thin .03 wide paua replicating the flutering path of the butterfly from the bottom of the fret board to the top. I dont have any pic but think I still have the fretboard art lay out somewhere.

Hey Andy, that's a really great idea. I've toyed with a cat themed guitar, and may do one eventually for my wife, who is a cat nut.

Let's see that Koa!

Well I love it. Very creative, and I like the idea of running the paws across the fretboard. Really nice.

Cool Andy, What are you planning for the headstock? How about your dogs face inlayed with a big slobbering tongue? Nah, Thats too much I guess

You know, as a "signature" you could use that paw shape as a sound port.

Carlton
I love that Idea.
I have never done a soundport.
I don't even know how

Andy, that is so cool!
It looks like you did a nice tight inlay on the top. You should have no problem with the FB.
I agree with others here that you need something to wrap the theam up at the head stock.
Maybe Ron's Idea about the Bone, as an inlay?

Real Nice Zoot, by the way.

I have had a dog out of MOP on all of my guitars so far.
I am doing small dog prints for the fret markers.
I like the soundport idea. Never done one
